Most of you who are view this blog came here because of a post of Facebook. My name is Chelsea Markham and this is the site that I will be doing all of my advertising and updates to my new business called Stylish Stitchings. This is an idea I came up with one day when I realized that many people in our culture here in Utah have trouble finding a modest prom dress that is within their price range. I have been to many stores where the dresses with sleeves are in the $200 range while the spaghetti strap and strapless dresses are the ones on the sale rakes.

As I was looking for a jacket for the pink dress in the pictures above, I couldn't find anything. I looked at 30-40 stores in the mall and other places with no luck. I knew what I wanted, but every store had a limited amount of options and none were what I was looking for. So I decided to make my own pattern and sew my own, personalized jacket that would match my dress to the T.

With the success of this first jacket and with Preference and Prom coming up at Springville High School, my mind turned to all the other girls at my school who may also be having problems finding jackets to make their dresses modest. So from this, Stylish Stitchings was born!

PRICES AND HOW TO ORDER

  • My jackets will range from $12-$20 dollars depending on style, embellishment, and production time.
  • Since the goal of this business is to make customized jackets, the buyer must purchase their own fabric.
  • 5/8 yard of material must be purchased
  • Any type of fabric may be used, but silks and other special occasion fabrics are recommended. (Extra fabric will be needed for repeated designs, strips, or plaid).
  • If you do not care to choose your own fabric for your jacket, you may drop off your dress at my house and I will buy the fabric for you (in your price range). The price of the fabric will then be counted in your tab.
  • Once the fabric has been purchased you must set up a time to come to my house for a fitting. Please bring your dress with you so you can try it on with one of my prototypes. I am available most days after school and in the evenings. To contact me, please send me and e-mail at chelz2crazy@hotmail.com with your name, phone number, and date that you need your jacket by.
  • After the fitting I will assemble your jacket and we can set up a time that you can pick it up or I can drop it off.
  • Payment must be in either cash or check

I hope that all of this is clear and easy to understand! I am sorry for the inconvenience of having to buy your own fabric and come to my house for a fitting, but it is the only way to make your jacket the best it can be and as personalized as possible! Speaking of personalizing, here are the options that I offer for the jackets:

  • Short sleeved shrug with pin or button fasten
  • Short sleeved shrug with curved front (does not fasten)
  • Long sleeved shrug with or without fasten
  • Three quarter length shrug with or without fasten
  • Beading (added expense depending on intricacy)
  • Decorative Stitching (as shown on picture) (added expense depending on intricacy)
  • The jacket can also be lengthened, but will require extra fabric

If you are interested or have any questions or concerns please email me at chelz2crazy@hotmail.com and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can. You can also leave a comment on this blog with your email and I will contact you. Thank you for visiting Stylish Stitchings your stop for customized jackets for High School dances or any other special occasion!

All purchases for Preference at SHS (March 28th) must be made before March 18th for them to be completed. I will be gone from the 19th to the 24th but will have time to complete them before or after my trip!

Be Merry!

Yay!!! I love this new templete! :) It makes me happy!! Well....I haven't posted in awhile, but I wanted to catch up on some things! I decided to play basketball. And yesterday, Springville played their first game at home against Lehi. It was a full sweep! JV's (the team I play on) final score was 59-37! I ended up getting at least 18 or 20 points! It was amazing! One of the best games I have ever played. I hope that we can keep that up throughout the whole season!

I also want to send out a shout out to everyone who was in Thourouly Modern Millie. You all did an amazing job! I was ver impressed and completely loved it!

And who isn't excited for THANKSGIVING!!! It is a marvelous thing to be able to sleep in! And lets just admit it, food is pretty much the best thing on the planet! :) Well, where ever you might be celebrating Thanksgiving this holiday season, have lots of laughs, smiles, hugs, and good times! I love you all! Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holiday's!

Confusion....

So I have been playing basketball ever since I was a tiny tyke-it is my dad's favorite sport, so that was to be expected. I don't remember a year that I haven't played on some sort of team if the team was available...but this year I am having great indecison on whether or not to try-out. I know that I won't be doing it in college and I am trying my hardest to make the right decision for my future. I know w/o bball I will have time to take some out of school sewing classes that will guide me on my path to wanting to become a fashion designer. But I also know that if I don't do bball I will miss it once the season starts, mostly becasue it has always been a huge part of my life.
So sorry to anyone if I have been grumpy or testy with you!!! I promise I wasn't trying to be! There has just been a TON a TON a TON of stuff going on and I have been stressed out! I promise things will get better after I make this very important decision and get the rest of my crazy life straightened out! I love you all and if you have any suggestions or even just comforing words/quotes--I would be happy to hear them! Loves!

Fun fun fun!

So, my dad got the camera's to work, so I get to show off the rest of my pictures! Yay!

The first set of dance pictures were from Jeremy's (the kid I met at Education Week at the begining of the school year) Homecoming! He is already graduated from High School and going on a mission to Riverside, California on December 10th, but he went back to his school's Homecoming! It was such a fun night!! We went ice skating, then went home and got changed, then to Los Hermonos (sp?) for dinner and then to his school for the dance! I had an amazing time! I also absolutely LOVED my dress!! I got it for $30 at Mariposa and spent a good day making the slivery jacket!! :) Another fun thing was that my sparkly shoes that matched perfectly were only a $1!!!! :D talk about excitement!!

Sadie's was also lots of fun!! I took Jeremy seeing as it was going to be the last dance I would have a chance to take him too before his mission. I doubled with Rachel Thompson and her date Robert...something...I looked up his last name in the yearbook, but I can't remember it now :S oh well...We went Classic Skating first which was way fun, but also very tireing and sweaty. Then to Rachel's house for a delicious dinner and changing into our Greace garb! It was fun to dress-up rather than doing the traditional t-shirts! I will have to try and post our pictures from the dance becasue they are going to be hilarious!! :) We had way to much fun with the whole thing! The guys ended up meshing really well and we laughed throughout the whole night. After the dance we went to my house for desert and then we took our dates home! (lol-Jeremy fell asleep on the way home ;) it was cute!)

Well, there is the low-down for anyone who even checks this blog anymore!! lol! At least I know Lauren will enjoy it! :D chow!

Crazy life of mine!

So I have been feeling bad that I haven't blogged in two ages...so I decided too!!! :) The below are not all the pictures I need to upload, but my camera and my father's camera decided to not work today, so you will have to wait on the other Homecoming that I went to pictures and Sadie's last week! Sorry!

Homecoming and my birthday, the main events on the slide show, were both so much fun!! :) It was exciteing to go to Homecoming the day before my birthday! A big thanks to Jerich for making it great! Not shown, my secound Homecoming and Sadie's were great as well! More on those later!

Life has been so hectic that I don't even know where to start! Most everyone who really cares already knows about my crazy life ;) but new developments...maybe not...:*( There is depressing new developements in the life of Chelsea Markham...I know...tragic *sob* but those of you who would really like to know can ask me in person or over email-I don't really want to make it public! Even though that's the point of blogs...right? Oh well!

This weekend was Fall Break! I got to go with my family to Park City, and it was a much need getaway from life in general! This week brings the end of the term-yikes! I am very scared for my grade in AP Calculus...but I guess we'll see...

Well, I have to go now! I love you all! Email! Chow!
